Congressional Candidate Frank Scaturro Pays Tribute to America’s Veterans
NEW HYDE PARK, NY - Frank Scaturro, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in New York’s 4th Congressional District, today released the following statement paying tribute to our nation’s veterans and their families:
“Veterans Day is a reminder of the contributions and the sacrifices that so many have made to safeguard our country and our community. Our nation is indebted to the exemplary service of those brave men and women who have served in the armed forces. At this time, our thoughts and prayers are especially with all who are serving abroad, and with the victims and families following the recent tragedy at Fort Hood, Texas.
“Americans of every generation since the Founding Fathers have risked their lives to ensure our freedom. Not only is Veterans Day a time to honor the armed forces, but it is also a day to reflect on our responsibilities as citizens and as patriots of this great country.”

Last weekend, in a late night session, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that assures a worsening economy and a cutback in health care services for the vast majority of Americans. It will hit especially hard those who make their homes in the fourth district. Make no mistake about it: the bill marks a government takeover of health care. Far from solving our problems in this field, this legislation
- Gives the government an unprecedented role in dictating treatment decisions;
- Costs $1.1 trillion;
- Cuts over $400 billion from Medicare; and
- Imposes a variety of new taxes upon families and small businesses.
When will the lesson be learned? Debt is not reduced by creating more debt, and it is wrong to pay for irresponsible decisions today by mortgaging the next generation’s future. On the heels of the news that our nation’s unemployment rate has hit double digits, we should not be penalizing those who create jobs in the first place.
Meaningful health care reform can be achieved at a lower cost to consumers without compromising the health of patients or bankrupting our country. I urge the Senate to do the right thing by
- Fighting to protect the integrity of the doctor-patient relationship from bureaucratic intrusion;
- Providing a wider field of health insurance choices for individuals and their families;
- Promoting portable plans that can be taken from job to job; and
- Enacting meaningful tort reform to curb the wasteful practice of “defensive medicine.”
- Its time to get someone into the congress that will represent the 4th district and not the wishes of Nancy and Harry.
"...I will endorse a candidate to run against Mrs. McCarthy. He must first win in the Republican primary in September. His campaign will soon kick into high gear and I promise that you will learn much about Frank Scaturro that you will like. Please support him with your vote. Elect Frank to our House and once again, as played by Gary Cooper, Mr. Smith will go to Washington.
Frank is not the candidate of the Republican Party bosses. He is his own man, not a party hack. This should make him all the more attractive to you.
My mission is quite simple- defeat McCarthy, elect Frank Scaturro to the House and then on to 2012. At stake is the future of our country. We have made horrendous mistakes, perhaps fatal mistakes, but it may not be too late to rectify them."

To the Editor;
Time has a way of fleeting, the days, months, years and seasons blending into each other. This past winter dragged on with little hope in sight. If you find summer has its problems, please think back to snow, ice and the long dark days.
Our trustees have done an excellent job dealing with issues which would have baffled ordinary men. There seem to have been few permanent solutions as nothing becomes easier. We deal with problems one after the other and I believe it is not in our nature to quit. We must come together to decide the future of this Village we love so well and, at the same time, focus on state, national and international issues. We are surrounded by those who wish to see us perish.
Our country is in as rotten a shape as I have seen since I was a boy. I am angry because over a period of years we have allowed it to happen. “The only thing necessary for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing.” Oh yes, I know. “The American people wave the flag, beat the drums and play the bugles.” Sadly, the term “American people,” no longer rings in my heart.
The famous author who lives in Garden City had this to say through a character in his latest novel: “The American People are Corrupt, Decadent and Afraid.” So, What do you believe?
In November 2011 we will go to the polls to vote in the most important election of our lives. We, the voters in the fourth C.D. have the obligation to defeat a politician who has never represented us and who is absolutely unresponsive. This election is not about party affiliation. If you judge it necessary to defeat the incumbent of the party you support, do so. Vote for the candidate you believe will work to help us to get out of the mess we have created. As always, the ultimate responsibility lies with us.
Ms. McCarthy has thrown in with the Clintons and Obama. Heady stuff. Continuing McCarthy in the House is not to our benefit. At the very least we must force a political balance in Washington. Placing the political power and control in the hands on one party, any political party, is a disaster in the making.
Now is the time to cut the legs out from under Obama by denying him the control and support of the three parts of our government. We must first win in 2011 and then go on to win again in 2012.
Unless Obama resigns or is forced out before his term ends, he could be the presidential candidate in 2012. I believe the Democrats will risk revolution and will not allow Obama to run in 2012. I also believe the deal was cut in 2008, “One term for you, Obama, and then out. It will be Hillary’s turn in 2012.” (Although too horrible to contemplate). There is not a shred of difference between Clinton and Obama.
I will endorse a candidate to run against Mrs. McCarthy. He must first win in the Republican primary in September. Frank Scaturro's Address to the 4th District of New York from Frank Scaturro on Vimeo.
I am grateful to all of you who have gathered here. It is a great honor to fight with you for the values we all hold dear.The proposed plan to build a mosque near Ground Zero has triggered a national debate that has brought in everyone from Sarah Palin to President Obama. Unfortunately, the intense spotlight has not cleared up the many questions about the mosque builders, the funding of the project, or the intentions behind it. Neither the President nor a good number of New York Democrats, including Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, have shown an interest in answering those questions.
Why that location? Are those who are trying to build the mosque near Ground Zero doing it to encourage interfaith dialogue? The words of the president of the Cordoba Initiative that purchased the site, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, suggest otherwise. If they were trying to build a bridge, why resist transparency instead of disclosing the sources of their funding? Questions have even been raised about the initial naming of the mosque as “Cordoba House” before it was retracted in the face of protest (although the Cordoba Initiative still uses that name to refer to the project).

Imam Rauf has spoken out in favor of imposing Sharia law in contexts that apparently include the U.S. and once asserted that “the United States’” policies were an accessory to the crime that happened” on 9/11. That is his right, as is the construction of a place of worship. The location of such construction, however, raises serious questions.
Rep. McCarthy unfortunately has shown no interest in asking any questions. Instead, she stated (as usual, speaking through a spokesperson): “The debate around the proposed Cordoba House has been an emotional one, and now that the measure has been approved to move forward, I hope we can work together to rebuild the area around Ground Zero in a manner that will honor our fallen heroes.”
In reality, the matter is not finished. The decision has been appealed, and additionally, Con Edison must sell off its interest in the property or consent before construction starts. The failure to address the questions raised by the mosque demonstrates the deference we have grown to expect from our representative to Speaker Pelosi and President Obama. Once again, her constituents deserve better.
Taken in context, the mosque would be viewed by our enemies as a monument to conquest at the very site of the most murderous attack ever committed on American soil. It would serve throughout the world as a strategic victory for Al Qaeda and other radical Islamic interests with which we are at war. Whether it is completely accurate or not, they would claim that the building of a mosque in the immediate vicinity of Ground Zero, where they destroyed the World Trade Center, shows that they are succeeding and that more attacks will further their goals. Moreover, this would be an affront to those who lost family members at Ground Zero, and who rightfully consider the area a mass gravesite.
The bottom line is that location matters when government considers proposed construction. It is a matter of common sense. Government routinely makes zoning and land use decisions according to the character of the surrounding area. A municipality may determine that buildings cannot exceed a certain height after making a judgment about the surrounding area or that a casino could not be built near a school (or anywhere for that matter). In recent years, there have been challenges to proposals to construct a theme park or a shopping center on or near Civil War battlefields, not because opponents wanted government to ban the underlying projects entirely, but simply because they were not appropriate on what our nation rightfully considers hallowed ground. Ground Zero bears a similar sanctity, and our elected officials should have better protected it when faced with the mosque proposal.
In spite of all the attention and debate, there is still an opportunity for the Cordoba Initiative to do the right thing and move the Community Center to another location out of respect for the 9/11 victims and the nearly 70% of Americans who oppose its construction. I urge them to listen.
